Following a comprehensive technical and commercial evaluation in 2024, Trinseo has decided to launch a PC dissolution recycling project at its Zhangjiagang base. This project will utilize Trinseo's proprietary dissolution technology to extract PC polymers from end-of-life automotive parts, consumer electronics, and other sources through selective solvents, enabling efficient material recovery and reuse. Compared to traditional mechanical recycling methods, dissolution technology can handle mixed or contaminated materials, expanding the range of recyclable PC waste and providing a broader solution for the circular economy.

To facilitate the smooth progress of the project, Han Hendriks, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer of Trinseo, and Bing Yang, Senior Vice President of Latex Binders and Asia Managing Director, visited Zhangjiagang last month to meet with local government authorities alongside the project team. During the meeting, the local government expressed strong support for Trinseo's decision to establish a PC recycling facility in the region and emphasized the project's significant importance for environmental protection and sustainable development. The government pledged full support in terms of resources and services to ensure the project advances as planned, laying a solid foundation for its successful implementation.

Since its establishment in 1998, Trinseo Polymers (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd. has grown into Trinseo's largest production base in the Asia-Pacific region. The launch of this PC recycling project not only reflects Trinseo's continued investment and confidence in the Zhangjiagang base but will also further promote the development and enhancement of the local circular economy industrial chain. By introducing advanced recycling technologies, Trinseo aims to reduce the environmental impact of plastic waste while providing customers with high-performance, sustainable recycled PC materials, supporting various industries in their transition to low-carbon operations.
